22 Senators Dump PDP for APC in National Assembly

The battle over which party will be in charge of the National Assembly is still on. It seems the APC has made it in the House of Reps, just waiting for the right time to make the announcement. Now the political power tussle has shifted to the senate where 22 senators elected on the platform of the PDP are said to be on their way to join the APC, thus increasing the chance of the leading opposition party.

“As we speak, those of us who have made up our minds to seek a new platform for our political future are not fewer than 22 in this Senate,” said a PDP senator who's set to join APC.

Although the National Chairman of the embattled PDP, Bamanga Tukur, had on Wednesday paid a visit to the Senate to beg the leadership to stop their members from joining APC, but it ended as a failed attempt.

One of the angry Senators thundered, as he walked out of the meeting with Tukur in Abuja:
“Tukur did not know how I contested and won my election; he will not also know how I will contest and win the next election,” adding that 2015 will be a big shocker for the PDP.

You may wish to know that PDP currently has 72 Senators, APC has 33, LP 3 and APGA 1. But with 22 of them now joining the APC, it means the APC will now have 55, will PDP will be left with just 50.

Also, a credible source disclosed that the APC now have a confirmed majority in the House of Reps. “The new arithmetic of the lawmakers in the House is 137 APC members plus 57 new PDP members that recently joined, making a total of 194 members.”

Asamoah Gyan Admits: “Ghana Is In The Group Of Death”

Moment after the 2014 FIFA World Cup draw in Brazil, some football pundits and fanatics have described Ghana’s group (Group G) as the “group of death”.

Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has joined the chorus by admitting that Group G of the FIFA World Cup draw is unquestionably the most difficult group Ghana has ever been placed in its World Cup history.

Speaking on Asempa FM, the Al Ain striker opined that though the Black Stars will meet tougher opponent in Brazil 2014, he is very optimistic of exceptional performance from his team mates.

“Ghana is in the group of death but we will get there,” he said.

Ghana has been drawn with Germany, Portugal and United States for the 2014 World Cup finals to be staged in Brazil next year.

The Black Stars will play their opening group game against the United States of America. It will be the third time in succession Ghana will be meeting the USA in all three world cup appearances since 2006.

The FIFA World Cup final draw took place at the luxurious Costa do Sauípe in Salvador, Brazil.

Mandela Movie "Long Walk To Freedom" Smashes South Africa Box Office Record

A film based on the life of Nelson Mandela, "Long Walk to Freedom", has became South Africa's all-time highest grossing picture after its opening last week, production company Videovision Entertainment said Tuesday.

The British-South African co-production, starring British actor Idris Elba as Mandela, has earned 4.4 million rand ($427,000, 315,000 Euros) — shattering records previously held by blockbusters like "The Wolverine", "Hangover 3″ and some locally produced films.

South African producer Anant Singh said he was "extremely pleased with the audience reaction" and the emotional response to the two-and-a half-hour movie.

Largely based on Mandela's autobiography of the same title, "Long Walk to Freedom" traces the life of the revered leader from his childhood in the rural Eastern Cape, through his anti-apartheid activism and decades of incarceration, to his election as the country's first black president in 1994.

The film opened in the United States on November 29, earning an average of $25,076 per screen, according to producers. It is seen as an Oscar contender, with Elba's performance in particular worthy of a best acting nomination.

''I regret ever having tatoos'' - Actress Anita Joseph

Nollywood actress, Anita Joseph stated in a recent interview with WG magazine that she regrets ever having tattoos because they are sinful.

She has tattoos on six parts of her body: the back of her palm, waist, top of her boobs, left leg, neck and arm

“ I regret my tattoos. It is something I wish I never had” she said “ it’s so addictive. You do one, you would do again and again. I just loved tattoos. But that was when I haven’t grown up and never knew it’s wrong in God’s eyes“.

She had a change of heart because of an encounter with a fan..

"She said I love everything about you and so whatever you do I want to do. I begged her not to have tattoos because tattoos are addictive. She was happy and thanked me for telling the truth. At the end of the day, I was happy I touched someone positively. That told me that whatever I do, someone, somewhere wants to do it, so now I am careful of what I do now"
